This person was not respected when he was a so called police supervisor,actually he was hated. His wifes arrest didn't help his reputation! It's discuting that a person of this caliber had the nerve to write anything about police work.He was never a "real" cop, just a pencil pusher.
This novel was very well written by a gentleman who I've met on several occasions, and I can tell you its truly written by a man of high integrity and experience. I enjoyed every case that was presented and now have a better understanding of the police workings. Thank-you Tony for sharing your real life stories with all of us.
This is an important read for all levels of law enforcement. Tony gives the best advice to law enforcement leaders patterns of behavior indicating abuse cannot be ignored. He also gives the best advice to law enforcement officials who are expert witnesses tell the truth.
Chief Bouza is one of the most articulate, forward thinking and innovative chiefs in the past century. Using masterful language, he identifies and analyzes the most complex police matters into an easier to understand format and allows the reader to consider the flip side of the issue.
It's a shame a visionary like this did not pursue other leadership positions in law enforcement upon his retirement from Minneapolis. But anyone in his position could understand why he didn't. Wish I could find a signed copy of any of his numerous books.

Very boring. Just the same story told over and over. Definitely not work the money.
Chief Bouza’s (although he prefers Tony) use of the English printed word is masterful. This book a example of how only an extensive vocabulary can describe otherwise incomprehensible human conflict and emotion.
More importantly, however, is the vivid portrayals of human nature, both of those in authority and up against authority. Reminding that the classics have more relevance than the procedural manuals and tomes beneath which bookshelves sag, a warning is cast to the profession and its hiring managers that law enforcement ought to be more solicitous to the critical skills of negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution.
